Our vision for reconciliation at Warrandyte Childcare and Preschool Centre is the realisation of a united Australia that respectfully acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, perspectives, and histories at the core of its shared national identity. Reconciliation for all is a life-long journey of learning, un-learning and relearning. It is an understanding and acknowledging the hard truths of Australias true histories and present, and actively promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples self-determination and significant cultures and contributions. Our reconciliation journey ahead involves building and maintaining a culturally responsive centre with strong connections with the Wurundjeri People on whose Land we teach, learn and play. It includes respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, perspectives and ways of knowing into our curriculum and planning, nurturing our children, educators and families to be champions of reconciliation, and nurturing the growth of the cultural responsiveness of our community of practice.
