At Doncaster East Daycare & Kindergarten, our vision for reconciliation is grounded in creating and maintaining opportunities for respect, connection and taking responsibility on Wurundjeri Country. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land and honour Elders past, present and emerging.
We are committed to building and maintain genuine, respectful relationships with local Aboriginal community members, seeking guidance and collaboration to support culturally respectful and responsive practices and the use of Woi-wurrung language across our service.
We are committed to working with Traditional Custodians to create opportunities for learning about Country by exploring and learning about the true histories on which we live, play and learn. Through this partnership, we will work in collaboration to co-design intentional experiences on and with Country and seek to deepen our knowledge and understanding of reconciliation through engagement with stories, and ways of being and knowing and communicating. This, will in turn, provide us with the skills to meaningfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives into our everyday practice, strengthening how everyone across our learning community connects with and understands Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, by cultivating a community that shows respect for place.
Through ongoing learning, unlearning and relearning and critical reflection, we commit to reconciliation as an ongoing journey and to contributing to a more inclusive, respectful and culturally safe future for all.
