We at Eltham Learning Centre for Children acknowledge the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land and will actively value and respect First Nations Peoples’ connections to the Land, the waters, the animals and the community in which we learn and play.
Our vision and commitment is to continue increasing our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and identities. This understanding will guide us as we build respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
Our vision is to create a visibly inclusive and culturally responsive environment for all children, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are respectfully embedded in our everyday practice and where children feel a sense of belonging, and comfort in knowing that their cultures are shared, honoured and respected, as are their Elders, past, present and emerging.
As early childhood educators we understand the significant role we play in the reconciliation journey for each child, educator and family at our service. We are committed to learning about and teaching our shared history and the diverse cultures that make up our country. Our process towards reconciliation acknowledges that children are our future and together with the children, educators and families we will work as a community and continue our journey.
