Our vision at Thornbury Kindergarten is to celebrate the continued contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ knowledges have in shaping a shared sense of national unity and identity as we work towards creating a fair, just and equitable Australia. We acknowledge, value and will continue to learn from the invaluable, ancient, and contemporary knowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have in caring for the ecosystem that makes up Country, including the land, waterways, and skies.
At Thornbury Kindergarten, we will continue to work towards this vision through our commitment to building trusting, respectful, and authentic relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members of our community, including working alongside Elders to develop a deeper understanding their culture, perspectives and practices. We commit to engaging in an ongoing, collaborative learning journey with our kindergarten community and continuing to respectfully share our learnings, and reflections on what we learn from working in collaboration with the Wurundjeri People. We will continue to reinforce this commitment by ensuring we embed what we learn, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs.
