To us, reconciliation means that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are actively valued, respected and affirmed across all areas of society. At Essendon Fields Kinder Haven, our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces equality and equity in the relationship between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Truthful acceptance of our shared history since colonisation, and removal of negative race relations, is also central to our vision for reconciliation. We believe that reconciliation must live in our minds and practice as we move forward as a nation. As we continue our reconciliation journey, we all believe that, as a service, it is important to ensure the challenges we face are overcome through an active engagement in our own ongoing learning and through using our growing knowledge and understanding to better ourselves for future practice.
