VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Highpoint Kinder Haven, we are committed to building and maintaining a culture of reconciliation grounded in respect, understanding and meaningful action. We acknowledge the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and recognise their connection to land, waters and community. We believe early childhood education plays an essential role in shaping a future built on equity, truth, and mutual respect.     

Our vision for reconciliation is to continually create a culturally safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where children, families and educators feel valued, respected and connected. We strive to ensure that every child develops an appreciation of First Nations peoples and understands the importance of reconciliation in our shared future.     

We demonstrate our commitment through acknowledgement and respect. We proudly recognise the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our centre stands and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Through intentional teaching, daily practices and meaningful conversations, we support children to learn about and respect First Nations cultures and perspectives.  Cultural learning is embedded within our curriculum in authentic and age-appropriate ways. We incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, stories and knowledge to develop curiosity, empathy and understanding.     

We seek to build connections with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through engagement, reflection, and ongoing learning.     

We understand that reconciliation is a continuous journey. By embedding its principles into our decision-making and everyday practices, we ensure our commitment is visible and sustained.
