Home Road Kindergarten is committed to building strong relationships with local First Nations peoples and communities in order to develop a respectfully guided curriculum for our HRK community.
Our goal is for the children, staff and community of HRK to develop a greater awareness and understanding; a continuing respect; and acknowledgement of the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we live, work and play.
We believe that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children are at the centre of their learning, and we will work with them to help them gain skills, knowledge and confidence to share what they know about First Nations histories, cultures and current topics with respect and commitment to reconciliation.
We strive to respectfully embed First Nations perspectives within our program ensuring our children, staff and families gain rich learning opportunities and a respectful awareness of the importance of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture.
Through an understanding of connecting to Country the children will become more informed, aware and protective of the land and waterways and we will guide them to take action against environmental concerns and protect the future of the land.
