At Kelso Children's Centre we acknowledge and value the cultural histories, heritages and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Kelso Children's Centre believes establishing and maintaining meaningful and ongoing relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community is fundamental for achieving our organisation’s goals for reconciliation. We want to continue to respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, cultures, histories and contributions into our daily program and day to day routines and will model and encourage children to show respect, empathy and the importance of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples' ongoing cultures and contributions. We will reflect on how we can continually contribute to the reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians. We will focusing on supporting respectful relationships with First Nations peoples and relevant stakeholders and the service. We will build an understanding of where, how, why, and when to respectfully seek guidance and consultation for our reconciliation journey from the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We will prioritise, prepare and plan for future reconciliation initiatives and events.
