VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Here at Maraylya Early learning centre our vision for reconciliation is for our educators, children, families and community to actively acknowledge the continuing place and significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within Australian history, culture and identity. We have a vision for continuing to strengthen relationships with the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our centre is built and continuing to build recognition and awareness about our local Darug community. We are committed to building a close relationship with the Traditional Custodians of the Land we teach on to ensure that we are teaching in a way that is respectful, culturally responsive and with an ongoing focus on reconciliation.

As a team we are committed to our continued professional development in becoming more knowledgeable about past and present histories and cultures of Australia and we will continue to critically reflect on our views, objectives and approaches towards building stronger futures for reconciliation.

At Maraylya Early learning centre we will continue to promote respect for diversity within our community as we take time to develop inter-cultural awareness and make sure we understand and respect each other's beliefs and values.

We will ensure our learning environment includes resources that promote learning about and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. We will respectfully celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditions and continuing contributions and ensure that everybody feels supported to participate in our educational program and activities towards reconciliation.
