At MOCCA, our vision for reconciliation is for educators, families, children and the community to understand how to meaningfully value, honour and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and perspectives. We believe that by acknowledging Country and respectfully embedding First Nations perspectives into our everyday curriculum, practice and centre operations, we empower everyone across the MOCCA community to be proud allies and advocates for First Nations peoples.
At MOCCA, reconciliation is not something we recognise only on special occasions or during one week of the year. For us, reconciliation is based on an ongoing commitment to build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, which will be reflected every day through our relationships, conversations, learning environments, and practices. We believe that meaningful reconciliation happens through taking ongoing action towards reconciliation through reflection, respect, and a genuine commitment to walking together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We will continue to use our voice to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples rights to true self-determination. We will do this by working collaboratively with First Nations people in the local community to foster continued understanding and mutually respectful relationships. Educators will continue to be provided with meaningful professional learning opportunities to strengthen cultural integrity and deepen their understanding of First Nations peoples, histories, cultures, and perspectives.
At MOCCA, reconciliation is everyones responsibility, for the benefit of our whole community you, me, us.
