We acknowledge that the First Nations peoples have been living and sustaining the land we now call Australia for thousands of years and we respect the First Peoples as Custodians of the Land. At Goodstart Goulburn we value the diverse knowledges and perspectives of the First Peoples and strive, as early childhood educators, to respectfully teach children and families these perspectives so that one day in the future we will achieve reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. We want to work together with our community and families to authentically include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, histories and cultures in our practice. We aim to achieve cultural responsiveness through inclusive practices and policies that ensure First Nations families, children, community members, and educators to feel welcomed, valued and respected within our service. We believe in creating strong reciprocal collaborations with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to help support authentic and meaningful learning experiences for the children in our care. We aim to provide a program that is respectfully inclusive of First Nations cultures within an environment that is culturally safe for all families.
