At Southern Highlands Early Childhood Centre, we strive to create an environment that is safe, welcoming and engaging for everyone who enters. Our philosophy talks about respect between families, educators, children and the wider community - we believe that fostering respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is foundational to our reconciliation journey. We connect to the wider community, inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to enhance our understanding of First Nations peoples and cultures and expose our children, educators and families to experiences that deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives, histories and experiences. Through incursions, resources and group learning experiences our service aims to provide as much exposure to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and traditions as we can to enhance our knowledge and understanding of Australia’s true history and drive reconciliation.
