VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation at Goodstart South Nowra means building genuine, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, grounded in honesty, trust, and ongoing learning. We acknowledge that we are located on Yuin Country and deeply respect the knowledge, culture, and continuing connections the Yuin people have to the Land. We recognise that building meaningful partnerships with local First Nations community members is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to taking intentional steps towards ensuring our practices are authentic, culturally safe, and responsive.     We reflect and plan to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our practice in ways that are meaningful for children. This includes engaging in yarning opportunities, incorporating local stories and perspectives, exploring Traditional Custodians connections to Country, respectfully using local language, and planning experiences to support childrens understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories.

We recognise the Dhurga and Dharawal language-speaking groups of the Yuin Nation, and value their past and ongoing contributions to community, cultural knowledge, and storytelling, which continues to guide and teach us. We are committed to learning from and alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we work towards building understanding, respect, and meaningful relationships within our service. We view reconciliation as an ongoing journey that requires reflection, accountability, and action. As a team, we are committed to continually strengthening our knowledge, challenging our thinking, and embedding reconciliation into aspects of our service, as we take ongoing steps towards embedding reconciliation into our everyday practice at Goodstart South Nowra.
