Nippersville Childcare and Preschool Centre acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Owners of the Lands, waterways, and skies across Australia.
We envision a nation that embraces, appreciates, and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, languages, and the deep spiritual connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have to Country.
We are committed to fostering a collaborative approach to historical acceptance, which involves recognising and understanding the colonial wrongs of the past and the impact of these on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, past, present, and emerging.
Our vision for reconciliation is for all people, including the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, to feel a sense of belonging, to be valued, and to be respected.
In the context of our service, our vision for reconciliation is also to ensure that each child has a voice and is recognised and celebrated in a way that supports them to express their individuality while contributing to our shared reconciliation journey. This includes:
•Listening respectfully to each child’s voice, supporting their cultural identity, and fostering a sense of belonging for each child. •Creating culturally safe play environments for children, families, and educators. •Creating equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to have their voices heard and to engage in culturally responsive play and education experiences. •Embedding meaningful play experiences and teaching moments that reflect and celebrate each child’s culture, language, and identity and so, in turn, create a sense of belonging. •Through our daily routines and curriculum plans, actively acknowledge and pay respect to the people of Yuin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our service is situated. •Working as part of a continual process on our RAP, and developing awareness and understanding of reconciliation for children, families, and educators.
As we journey on a path for reconciliation, we walk together in unity.
