Planet Childcare pays respect and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Original Custodians of Australia and recognise their cultures as part of the cultural heritage of Australia. We especially pay our respects to the Dharawal saltwater people, the Traditional Custodians of the Country on whose Land we learn and play.
We are committed to reconciliation and encourage our children, educators, and community to respect Dharawal peoples connections to the Land.
We recognise the significance of culture for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to develop their identity and sense of self and grow into proud Elders of the future. We pursue the need for our community, our environment, and our service's interactions to positively reflect, promote and support the diverse identities and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. We believe in the importance of all Australians learning about and understanding the diverse histories and current realities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the need for all Australian children to grow up in a society that acknowledges and actively values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions as part of our national identity.
We will challenge insensitive and biased attitudes, practices, and behaviours and ensure that current and future practices, publications, and policies throughout our Early Learning Centre are respectful of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, acknowledge current realities, and are proactive in supporting reconciliation.
Planet supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart and we are supportive of a First Nations Voice to Parliament protected by the Australian Constitution. We believe that a decision to enable First Nations Peoples to have a say in policy and legal decisions is an important step in building a resilient, sustainable and prosperous future for all Australians.
Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
