Possum Place Preschool and Early Learning Centre acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and Traditional Custodians of the Land.
We are committed to fostering an early learning environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all children, families, educators, and community members feel safe, welcomed, and respected. Our centre upholds the principles of inclusion, equity, equality, and cultural safety, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, traditions and histories are valued as integral to our learning community.
Our educational programs maintain a sustained focus on respectfully embedding First Nations perspectives and supporting the children's learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and ways of knowing. We are committed to taking action against racism through education and a shared understanding of Australia's past and present.
We will continue to seek opportunities to deepen our learning about First Nation peoples and cultures and invite families and community members to contribute their knowledge and experiences. We will include inclusive and culturally responsive learning experiences, regular reflection on curriculum relevance, and the ongoing development of an environment where all voices are heard and respected, especially First Nations people's voices. Professional learning and cultural competence and responsiveness will remain a priority for all educators.
