VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

The vision for reconciliation at Goodstart Grafton is founded in forgiveness, growth, and love of what we do. We believe in supporting the holistic development of children, which includes incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and maintaining trusting relationships with children and staff and building a connection to the Land on which we work and play.  Here at Goodstart Grafton we acknowledge the past histories of this Country and the diverse and continuing cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, ensuring that the emerging leaders are becoming involved as we collaborate for an equitable society.  We are committed to being a safe and culturally understanding space to foster strong relationships between all non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This place will be one where everyone is understood, heard, valued and respected while working as one.

By engaging with families and the wider community, we will ensure that our sphere of influence supports increasing our services; commitments to provide quality early education and care for the young minds that are developing within an early childhood education and care setting. Six spheres of influence here at Goodstart Grafton, Workplace, Profession, Religion, Legal system, Family and Community guide our reconciliation journey.  We will seek to better educate ourselves and the children to ensure the culture and rights of all people are valued and a recognised part of our shared identity.  We recognise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations People. We show respect to their history, heritage and traditions.
