Gamumbi has a strong and ongoing commitment to reconciliation. We endeavour to provide children, families and educators with opportunities to learn about the importance of First Nations peoples’ histories and cultures, particularly the local Gumbaynggirr cultures. We value that First Nations cultures are the oldest continuous living cultures in the world. We also recognise the gross atrocities of the past as well as the ongoing struggles and injustices that continue to occur today. Sovereignty was never ceded and while we are learning the true histories of Australia remains largely invisible, we acknowledge that it always was and always will be Gumbaynggirr Land. We accept the invitation made to us from the Uluru Statement of the Heart and agree with the elements outlined within it. We also recognise that the five dimensions of reconciliation are paramount in building a reconciled nation.
