Long Flat Community Pre School acknowledges and deeply values the cultural histories, heritages, traditions and ways of being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our vison is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are acknowledged, respected and valued as the Traditional Custodians and for their continuing contributions Our vision is a community where all children are educated from early childhood to understand, value and have deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures and ways of knowing and being. Our vision is to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters cultural responsiveness, and respectfully embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in all areas of our service. Our vision is to embark on a continuous journey of learning and understanding of reconciliation with all members of our service, including all staff, children and families. Our vision is to develop and meaningfully maintain respectful and reciprocal relationships between Long Flat Pre School and the local Birpai community. This includes enriching our learning program by seeking guidance, support and input from our First Nations community, as an embedded practice. Our centre believes, as stated in the 2008 National Apology, that our reconciliation journey is about creating "a future based on mutual respect, mutual resolve and mutual responsibility". We firmly believe that through reconciliation there will be justice and equity for all.
