At Goodstart New Lambton, our vision is for our children, families and staff to gain a deeper understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. By teaching children to acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories we hope to encourage staff, children and families to be committed to reconciliation. We continue to strengthen our knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, including through connections with the Awabakal people on whose Land we reside. We will use this knowledge to support and implement the development of the educators and childrens understanding of the histories of Australia. We will also gain knowledge, where appropriate and welcome, through respectful connections with our families and team members who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Through the development of reciprocal relationships and an increased knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and culture, we strive to create an environment that is welcoming to and inclusive of First Nations peoples.
