Blinkies Early Education Centre embraces our diverse nation and values the contributions by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community. We believe that in a modern Australia, reconciliation is about having the will to change and move forward with recognition and acceptance of the impact of colonisation of our rich histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
We aim to engage and build meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and with Elders who can help support us to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our learning environments and the teaching of children in our care.
An ongoing culture of reflective practice is supported to plan and implement strategies for quality improvement in our practice to help shape the views of children to be free from judgement, fear and a lack of understanding.
Identifying agencies and local community groups that can support our journey of reconciliation, and making connections within our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to gain trust to make our service an inviting and welcoming place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
