VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Carinya Childrens Centre, our vision for reconciliation is a community where every child feels a deep sense of belonging, connection, and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, and cultures.

Cultural inclusion at Carinya looks like vibrant environments filled with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, art, languages, and stories woven seamlessly into our daily routines and learning experiences. It sounds like the joyful songs of Country, the sharing of ancient and contemporary knowledge, and the open conversations where all cultures are valued and celebrated. It feels like the warmth of community, the pride in identity, and the strength from understanding and embracing difference.

We are committed to meaningfully and respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all learning and play experiences. Every day, we provide opportunities for children to explore, engage with, and reflect on the worlds oldest living cultures through authentic connections to Country, storytelling, language, art, and shared traditions.

At Carinya, we believe children are powerful, capable citizens. By nurturing respect, curiosity, and empathy, we empower them to celebrate the richness of culture and diversity. We foster environments where children recognise, honour, and stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowing that reconciliation is a journey we take togethertoday and every day.
