At Adamstown Preschool, we are committed to walking together in the spirit of reconciliation, building and sustaining respectful, genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within and across the local community.
We acknowledge the Awabakal People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play, and we honour their continuing connection to Land, culture, and community.
Our vision for reconciliation is to create and maintain a culturally safe, responsive and inclusive environment where educators, children, and families are supported to deepen their understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and perspectives. We are dedicated to embedding this knowledge into our daily practices, curriculum, and interactions.
Through ongoing learning, reflection, and collaboration alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community, we will continue to recognise past and present impacts of colonisation by actively contributing to creating a more equitable future. We will continue to empower children, and everyone across our community, to develop respect, empathy, and a strong sense of social responsibility, so they can grow as active participants in reconciliation.
