At Goodstart Early Learning Glendale, we respectfully acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the Awabakal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play. For over 60,000 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have nurtured, protected, and cared for this land.
We are committed to fostering early learning environments that offer opportunities for educators, children, families and the community to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories. We will build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our local community and listen and learn about what it means to actively incorporate their voices and perspectives, into our programs, curriculum learning environments.
We value equity and reconciliation by embracing and celebrating diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and perspectives. We will by embedding authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum by inviting family, child and community collaboration and inviting them to join us in our reconciliation journey. We will be building partnerships with local Elders and engaging staff, children, and families in ongoing learning and reflection about what it means to recognise both the past and present contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our vision is that every child, family, and educator at Goodstart Glendale grows with a sense of respect, inclusion, and shared responsibility for Australias true history, moving confidently together towards a culturally safe environments for learning and a united future. We envision our service being a place where educators, children and families learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Traditional Custodians about what it means to meaningfully connect with Country in meaningful ways.
