At Kidz on the Avenue, we believe reconciliation is about unity, equality, and equity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians. Our vision of a reconciled Australia is one where every individual can fully and fairly participate in all aspects of society, free from discrimination, and where the cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations peoples are recognised and respected. Reconciliation is essential to the growth and maturity of our nation. It benefits everyone by fostering respect, understanding, and collaboration. It is built upon five key and interrelated dimensions: race relations, equality and equity, unity, institutional integrity, and historical acceptance. At Kidz on the Avenue, we are committed to supporting reconciliation through our everyday practices, policies, learning environments, and interactions with children, families, and the wider community. Our vision is to nurture an inclusive and connected community that honours and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and knowledges. We embed an appreciation of First Nations peoples perspectives within our early learning environment so children, educators and families grow with respect and understanding of the rich cultural heritages of First Nations peoples. At Kidz on the Avenue, we acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our service stands. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise their continuing connections to land, culture, and community. We are committed to listening, learning, and walking together on the path of reconciliation, building respectful relationships and creating and maintaining a culturally welcoming environment where all people feel a strong sense of belonging.
