VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Liverpool School for Early Learning, reconciliation means developing and strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider Australian community for the benefit of all Australians.

We believe in building respect for Australia's First Nations peoples and providing meaningful learning opportunities about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures for all who attend and work at Liverpool School for Early Learning. We recognise the heritage and depth of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ knowledges and contributions in shaping our centres educational outcomes and as well as the wider communities.

We respect the customs and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their spiritual connection with the Land. We understand the importance of kinship networks and connections to Country and the importance in developing a sense of identity.

Liverpool School for Early Learning is committed to reconciliation to create equity and equality in closing the gap in education and building meaningful  relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider Australian community. Liverpool School for Early Learning supports these commitments by incorporating pedagogical practices that reflect the diversity of  First Nation peoples’ perspectives. We will provide opportunities for children, educators and all stakeholders to be culturally responsive and involved in the development of our statement of reconciliation.

We will listen to and respect the aspirations of local First Nations peoples and work together for a future based on shared values, social justice, equity and equality and cultural diversity.
