Canley Heights World of Learning understands that reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians is the responsibility of all Australians. We recognise the significance of belonging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
We recognise that unless the centre is committed to reconciliation through adopting a practical action plan, the small and significant changes necessary to shift from positions of racism, ignorance, regret and tokenism will not be achieved. We believe that our Reconciliation Action Plan will provide practical strategies for building and renewing deep and respectful partnerships and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, families and individuals so that we can learn as we work to build a more equal, equitable and socially just nation.
We will work in partnership with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to deepen our understanding of First Nations perspectives, cultures and histories and respectfully embed them into our daily programs. We commit to respectfully engaging with the local First Nations community to support us on our reconciliation journey.
