Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, and a national culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared history, and removal of negative race relations. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds, and actions of all Australians young and old as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In the context of our Kindergarten, this represents equal and equitable educational opportunities and outcomes for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders within our community, and an inclusive and diverse workplace that is culturally safe, culturally rich, and culturally proud. We are committed to working in a respectful way with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organizations, and communities. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures are valued, respected, and affirmed across all areas of society and everyone's rights are recognised and protected under Australian Law. All educators and children have equal and equitable opportunities to exercise choices about the way in which they lead meaningful, healthy lives, including those which sustain their cultures. Pine Street Kindergarten welcomes all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children, and members of the community to our service, and remains committed to sourcing and attending opportunities within the community, to increase staff and community awareness of the longstanding and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By establishing a better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, we develop an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage and move towards the maturity of Australia as a nation. This will lead to the development of an Australian identity based on mutual respect, trust and support reconciliation.
