Reconciliation, for us as individuals and as an organisation, continues to mean fostering understanding, respect, knowledge, and genuine partnerships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community. Over the past year, we have deepened this commitment through our learning, reflection, and the development of our new Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
For our preschool community, reconciliation looks like embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday practice through curriculum experiences, meaningful conversations with children, and strengthened relationships with local First Nations communities. We are growing in our understanding of the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we are intentionally creating spaces where this knowledge is valued and visible.
A reconciled Australia, to us, is a nation where the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures is acknowledged and celebrated, where First Nations perspectives and knowledge systems are respected and embedded across systems and education, and where every child and family feels a strong sense of belonging and unity. It looks like mutual respect, active listening, shared learning, and equitable opportunities for all Australians.
We remain committed to engaging meaningfully with First Nations communities, organisations, and individuals. Through the implementation of our new RAP, we are moving from intention to action building authentic relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community, increasing cultural responsiveness within our team, and creating ongoing opportunities for learning and collaboration.
We recognise reconciliation as a continuous journey, and we are proud of the steps our preschool community is taking toward a more inclusive and respectful future.
