We, the educators, management, children, and families at Goodstart North Sydney - West Street acknowledge the inequalities and injustices experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples since colonisation and pay our respect to the First Australians and the Traditional Custodians of the Land. For us, reconciliation means to actitvely recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and foster an active appreciation of cultural diversity. Reconciliation is a learning journey where we actively acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the Land. Along with increasing the educators' understanding of the purpose and significance behind Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ cultural protocols, we would also like to involve our children and families to become a part of our reconciliation journey. We will involve all families and diverse stakeholders in the continued development and implementation of the RAP so that the educators, children and families can have a proper understanding of the injustices that have occurred in Australia and the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We will continue to include anti-bias approaches, and focus on tackling discrimination, unfairness and other inequalities or inequities in our curriculum. We will continue to actively identify opportunities to proactively encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ self‑determination. Our priority is to provide our children with authentic and meaningful learning experiences that promote respect for and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders cultures, histories, languages, heritage, and continuing contributions, to ensure social justice and fairness, and freedom from racism and biases, for all Australians.
