Only About Children Enmore

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Only About Children (Enmore)'s vision for reconciliation is to create an inclusive environment where we recognise and learn from the Gadigal People's expansive knowledge of the Land and community. We would like to commit ourselves to continuous connection and learning about the culture, language, practices, and customs of the children in our care and their families, as well as the First Nations people in our community. We recognise our position as educators and our influence in young people's lives, and therefore the future of our community, and through our vision, we'd like to see our children feeling empowered, and using their voice to create positive change in this world, including speaking against injustice. OAC Enmore is built upon Gadigal Land, of the Eora Nation, and we are committed to telling the truth about the history of the land pre and post colonisation in age-appropriate ways. We will acknowledge the strength, courage and bravery of First Nation's Peoples, and shine the spot light on their resilience in the face of hardship. We are committed to including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our projects and curriculum, and inspiring our young people with First Nations perspectives and contributions, instilling deep respect for the longest living culture in the world. We are also committed to participating in dates of significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, like National Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, Mabo Day and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day, as well as working towards reconciliation every day. We are committed to creating an environment where staff, children and their families can discuss the histories and resilience of First Nation's peoples.
