Goodstart Woolner’s vision for reconciliation is to pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, acknowledging the Custodians of the Land that we play and learn on, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will assist our learners to understand the importance of the true histories and diverse cultures of this Land. Our vision is to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout our Centre. . We are committed to developing respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, educators, and community members, with the goal of culitvating culturally safe environments that welcomes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into our classrooms to work alongside our children, educators and families and children. We commit to improving our cultural responsiveness in order to facilitate experiences for children, staff and families to respectfully learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We commit to building relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members that are built on mutual respect, trust and inclusiveness, acknowledging the importance of these relationships in reconciliation. We commit to keeping up to date with current affairs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to gain a better understanding of issues that may be affecting them and to look for opportunities to raise awareness of the complexities of First Nations peoples’ experiences. We commit to take an active stance against racism and to teach our children, educators and families at Goodstart Woolner to respect peoples and to acknowledge the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the early years setting.
