VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Channel Christian School, we are a vibrant and compassionate learning community dedicated to upholding the values of "Faith, Hope, and Love – the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13). Rooted in our Christian faith, we recognize that God’s love extends to all peoples, leading us to commit to reconciliation as an integral part of God's work through Jesus Christ. We actively participate in building a harmonious, inclusive and reconciled future.

Acknowledgment and Respect:

Channel Christian School acknowledges the Melukerdee people of the Southeast Nation of Lutruwita (Tasmania) as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school stands. We pay sincere respect to Elders, both past and present, for their enduring custodianship of this Land and their invaluable contributions to the cultural heritage of this region.

Core Commitments:

•Active Listening and Truthful Engagement: We commit to humbly listen and learn from the truths of the past and present, recognizing the historical injustices and ongoing impacts that have affected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By engaging in honest dialogue and listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, we aim to better understand and acknowledge the complexities of their experiences and the role we play in reconciliation.  •Cultural Connection and Engagement: Channel Christian School is dedicated to forging genuine connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their voices, knowledge, and rich and diverse cultural traditions. Through meaningful engagement, we seek to foster mutual respect and create a culturally safe environment where diverse perspectives are embraced and celebrated.  •Preparing Advocates for a Flourishing Future: We envision our students as compassionate advocates for a flourishing future, not just for themselves but for all peoples. We aspire to empower our learners with the knowledge and empathy needed to contribute positively to reconciliation efforts in their communities and beyond.
