At Tea Tree Gully Primary School, we acknowledge that our school is situated on Kaurna Land and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We commit to walking along the path to reconciliation and value the contributions and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our vision for reconciliation is that we facilitate opportunities to immerse students in Aboriginal cultural experiences and build authentic connections to Aboriginal peoples by strengthening relationships with the local Kaurna community. We aim to raise awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures and languages, and to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives are respectfully embedded into our practice and shared within our community.
We aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for all First Nations learners, staff and families, where cultural diversity is respectfully acknowledged and celebrated. We commit to implementing culturally appropriate teaching strategies so that all learners can achieve equitable and equal learning outcomes.
We believe that strengthening connections with the local Aboriginal community is an important step towards achieving social justice, equality and equity.
