Our vision for reconciliation is informed by our Mission Statement, whereby we aim to provide a place of welcome, respect, learning and justice. At St Peter's, we recognise the dignity and uniqueness of each person, challenging all students to recognise their talents and gifts, and encouraging them to develop to their full potential. As an inclusive school community, we strive to unite the school, home, and parish in the mission of developing the whole child - academically, culturally, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
We value the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples. cultures, knowledges, and histories, which are actively displayed throughout the school. We incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ideas and perspectives in learning and teaching practices, the commemoration of national days of significance, and the engagement of the Traditional Owners in the lower Herbert region, which includes the Nywaigi people.
The St Peter's community values the innate human dignity of each individual, respecting and honouring their beliefs, values and cultures. We see through to the heart of the person and embrace and treasure the gifts each person brings to the community. We live out our ideal of a reconciled Australia within our own community.
