Childers State School endeavours to work towards reconciliation by understanding the complexities and rich histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures. Surrounded by several Language Groups, we seek to acknowledge and show respect to First Nations peoples, their connection to Country, and to actively listen to, comprehend and appreciate the value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, perspectives and messages spoken. We seek to walk beside First Nations peoples with honest recognition of the past and acknowledge the value and relevance of First Knowledges in today’s world. We proactively pursue a future that empowers healing and collaborative openness and hope for a just, equal and equitable Australia.
