VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Clairvaux MacKillop College we strive to nurture a culture of respect, inclusion and justice, celebrating the dignity and diversity of every individual, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this Land  Kaggar-Mabul.

Our vision for reconciliation is grounded in the belief that relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are built on mutual respect and trust are the foundation for a just and reconciled Australia. We commit to deepening our understanding of the histories, cultures, languages, Lores, and spiritual traditions of First Nations peoples. Through this commitment, we seek to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised and respected, and that equity and opportunity are promoted across all aspects of life. We prioritise embedding First Nations perspectives across the curriculum and fostering high expectations for every learner through approaches that honour identity and culture.

We actively seek to build and maintain partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders from the Yuggerra people of the Yerongpan Clan, within the Turrbul Tribal Nation, and the wider community, ensuring that these relationships are characterised by respect, reciprocity and shared responsibility. In doing so, we affirm our commitment to walking together on the journey of reconciliation, guided by truth-telling, healing and hope.
