Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) vision for reconciliation is guided by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation Act (1991) and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. BGS believes that, as agents for change, our commitment to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians through action, will make a difference.
This Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) will enable us to drive the continued implementation of strategies throughout the entire BGS community so that the whole school can effectively take part in the broader movement towards reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. The BSG vision for reconciliation is to continue to commit time and to consult with First Nations people in the local community, to ensure that our programs are aspirational and innovative. We will continue to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories to support the development of reciprocal relationships between the BSG school community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Our programs will contribute to addressing past inequalities and inequities and our actions outlined in this plan will ensure BGS enhances our respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and Country.
