VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Brisbane Grammar School’s (BGS) vision for reconciliation is guided by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation Act (1991) and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. BGS believes that, as agents for change, our commitment to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians through action, will make a difference. This Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) aims to drive the continued implementation of strategies throughout the entire BGS community so that the whole school can effectively take part in the broader movement towards reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. The BGS vision is to commit time and money to aspirational and innovative programs which deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories and which support the development of reciprocal relationships between the BSG school community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. These programs will contribute to addressing past inequalities and inequities and our actions outlined in this plan will ensure BGS enhances our respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and Country.
