St Peter's Girls' School

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION
At St Peter’s Girls’ School, a friendly, caring Anglican community, we believe in the value of each individual; her academic, spiritual, emotional, creative, physical and social development. We recognise and celebrate the cultural diversity of our country and believe that reconciliation will lead to a growing respect for the First Peoples, their Lands and Seas, cultures and spiritualities. As a community of learners, we strive to build and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures cultures; inclusivity, respect, care and cooperation are values held as important to our school. We acknowledge a continuing relationship with the Kaurna people, the Traditional Custodians of the Land upon which our school stands. We seek opportunities to increase respect, reduce prejudice and strengthen relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our community is enriched through the reciprocal sharing of skills and perspectives. As a school we aim to develop global citizens who will: •Make connections with and between cultures;•Develop personal and cultural pride;•Rejoice in differences;•Promote justice and respect;•Understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories; •Embrace the values and traditions of other individuals and communities. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, our students will create a better, more peaceful world based on intercultural understanding and shared humanity.
