Rubicon Outdoor School acknowledges the deep spiritual and physical connection to Country that First Nations people have, as Custodians of the Land. We recognise the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including the catastrophic loss of languages, health, spiritual connection to places, and cultural practices. Our vision for reconciliation includes acknowledging the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders past and present, resulting from colonization and how these experiences impact First Nations peoples. We believe that the process of reconciliation is critical to the wellbeing of all people, and we acknowledge our role and duty to find meaningful opportunities to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories and perspectives into our curriculum.
