VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

As a Bilingual Victorian Government Primary School, Caulfield Primary School's vision for reconciliation is to foster an inclusive inter-cultural relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians based on mutural respect and recognition of the immense value of First Nations Peoples’ knowledges and cultures.

We will continue to:

•respectfully reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritages and continuing contributions in the school’s physical environment

• ensure that Caulfield Primary School is a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and all people, feel culturally safe and treated with dignity and respect.

•truly engage with and learn from, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations

• respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our school culture including curricula, teaching and learning, co-curricular activities and our community.

• demonstrate an understanding of and engagement with Australia’s true histories throughout our planning and teaching.

• develop an understanding of the importance of place, and of connection to the Land, within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, while encouraging and providing opportunities for all within the school community to learn from Traditional Custodians about connecting to Country.
