VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We pay special respect to the First Nation's community and students, and we will respectfully embed cultural safety, awareness and responsiveness for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people in all aspects of school life. This is reflected in our policies and procedures, staff induction, curriculum planning, environmental design, artworks, and special events. Our vision for reconciliation is that everyone who comes in contact with SSC will experience a genuine sense of belonging and experience equality and equity in educational outcomes.  We strive for engagement through healthy relationships, to achieve the best future imaginable for all of our students.   We acknowledge that our students and their families come from a diverse range of backgrounds and previous experiences with school and come to us for a fresh start in their education, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and staff. We respect our families and community as partners in the education of their children and aim to build positive and meaningful relationships.  Kindness, courage and consideration are how we foster and guide reconciliation within our practice and inform how we manage our greatest asset, the staff and students that place their trust in us to facilitate their experience. Compassion is at the heart of our wellbeing approach, and this supports the teaching and learning that is our core business.   We aim to ensure a culture of respect, support and success and we work to embrace young people as they are, however they choose to express themselves.
