VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At St. Michael’s we take inspiration from Our Lady of Perpetual Help, through our commitment to being a people of harmony. We endeavour to create a learning environment that recognises and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their rich cultures. We are committed to working in harmony with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to increase respect, reduce prejudice and strengthen unity.

Through curriculum, prayer and celebrations we will continue to acknowledge  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, and continue to foster a strong sense of connection, respect and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ continuing cultures, within all aspects of our teaching and learning. . We strive to shape our learners to be reflective of the past, proactive in the present and committed to working towards a future where they can live, work and learn within a country that values the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, perspectives and knowledges. .

Our staff are lifelong learners who continually work towards deepening their own knowledge of reconciliation. Our team is committed toensuring every student has the opportunity to develop a holistic  understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, contributions and perspectives, through innovative and exciting learning opportunities.

We are a people of harmony and challenge, whose dream is for a truly reconciled Australia where all people are treated with dignity, respect and fairness.
