Reconciliation is everyone's responsibility. At Blacktown South Public School, reconciliation is part of our core values. As Educators, we have the ability to ensure equal and equitable educational outcomes First Nations Peoples and all people. Through education and knowledge, we have the opportunity to promote change and guide our students and families to become active members of reconciliation within our wider community.
As a school community we need to work together to foster empathy and understanding of the many past injustices towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, acknowledging our country's true shared history. Our school is committed to providing teachers with ongoing professional development to ensure we have confidence in teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives within our classrooms. It is imperative that we build meaningful connections with First Nations students, families, and community members. Relationships that are more than transactional, but truly transformational.
At Blacktown South Public School, we aim to effectively embed the five dimensions of reconciliation, through on-going, genuine actions. We acknowledge that in the past we have not always had the knowledge and ability to do this, but moving forward we pledge to promote historical acceptance and stand in solidarity with First Nation Australians. As a school we are proud to acknowledge that reconciliation is all of our business.
