VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is that all Australians reside in a nation that is culturally rich and proud of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ culture and contributions. People will be intrinsically driven to strengthen respectful relationships and nurture a commitment to making positive and authentic change.

In the context of Beacon Hill Public School, we will strive to foster culturally responsive teachers who feel confident in delivering and respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, experiences and perspectives. We will ensure our school is a culturally safe and welcoming environment that strengthens bonds and accepts differences.  We will empower children with the necessary tools to embody kindness, respect and empathy for others and continue our commitment to work in partnership with local Aboriginal Elders and community members to support sustainable and meaningful reconciliation.

We meaningfully include our learnings of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge into our school community in a respectful and relevant manner to ensure that our students know and learn about the Country they are standing on. We include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, perspectives and histories into our physical spaces to make First Nations' perspectives more visible in our school, creating a welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families while fostering a culturally safe environment.
