VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

"This is the Land of the dreaming, a land of wide horizons and secret places. The First People of Australia, our Ancestors, created this Country in the culture that binds us to it." Hetti Perkins Our vision for reconciliation begins with our acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live.

Neutral Bay Public School will walk together with students, families and the wider community on a journey that brings understanding and respect to the school community for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' histories and cultures - one of the richest and oldest continuing cultures in the world. As pathfinders, we will demonstrate pride and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, and contributions and promote equity, equality inclusion and harmony.

We commit to creating a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and all students and families. We envision a place of teaching and learning that is culturally inclusive, where the aspirations of students are fostered, diversity is celebrated, and equitable opportunities are created to achieve the highest possible outcomes for all students in our care.

Our vision for reconciliation involves educating our community and beyond to work towards a future of equity, equality, dignity and respect for all We commit to ensuring our policies are inclusive and respectful of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and that First Peoples' perspectives are acknowledged as a vital part of the fabric of our school's culture. We are committed to respectfully incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into curriculum planning, design, and delivery. Our shared accountability to a collective and sustainable commitment to reconciliation will be achieved through sustained engagement with staff, students, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
