At Mount Carmel College, we envision a community where reconciliation is lived through relationships grounded in justice, solidarity, and deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We respectfully acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school stands, and we commit to fostering a culturally safe environment where truth-telling, equality, and equity are central to our shared journey. Inspired by the Josephite charism and the example of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, we walk alongside First Nations peoples with humility, listening deeply to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, and honouring each others wisdom. Our vision is to nurture a welcoming school culture that celebrates and acknowledges diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through promoting intercultural understanding. We endeavour to meaningfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs and curriculums by continuing to learn about First Nations cultures, histories, to ensure all aspects of our community have opportunities to learn about reconciliation. Through education, dialogue, and meaningful action, we aim to build strong, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families, and communities. We believe that by upholding the dignity of all and embracing the richness of First Nations peoples, cultures and spiritualities, will provide opportunities for all students to grow into compassionate leaders who contribute to a more just and reconciled Australia.. We commit ourselves to walking together in a spirit of respect and reconciliation, building a future where the wisdom and contributions of First Nations peoples are valued and embraced by all.
