VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart Early Learning Betram acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Our Centre will continue to work towards ensuring our environments are inclusive and culturally respectful, and are places where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and everyone within our community, feel a strong sense of belonging. We will continue to build for strong community connections with local First Nations people and organisations recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Land, respecting and valuing their contributions to Australian society and the local community.

We, as a team, understand the importance of raising awareness of the role of reconciliation in education by developing our understanding and knowledge of First Nations peoples, histories, cultures, and perspectives. We will continue to work towards building relationships with Traditional Custodians to learn how to respectfully embed our learnings about Noongar people and perspectives in our curriculum, environments, pedagogical practices and professional development.

Our vision for reconciliation is to continue building on our knowledge and understanding of reconciliation through relationships with Traditional Custodians, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn about the special relationship between First Nations peoples and the land, wildlife, sky, and waterways.

We will continue to strengthen our focus on being a centre committed to listening to the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, families, children, and community members, to ensure our service, teaching practice, and learning opportunities are delivered in ways that are culturally safe and responsive.
