C&K Canungra Community Kindergarten

Early learning service
June 2022 to June 2023

C&K Canungra acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Lands on which the service is located, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. C&K Canungra also pays respects to all Elders – past, present and future.

C&K Canungra is committed to fostering and demonstrating respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ cultures and achievements. We seek to build staff knowledge and understanding of the continuing contributions of Australia's First Nation Peoples. We believe it is important for all staff to understand the history and context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in Australia as a critical first step towards reconciliation for a better reconciled Australia. We seek to contribute to this through understanding history, learning about cultures and developing resources.

C&K Canungra Community Kindergarten recognises children’s connection to their community as part of their ‘sense of belonging’ and that our kindergarten plays a key role in nurturing and enhancing relationships within our wider community. We aim to respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land and build genuine, respectful relationships with all children, families and the community as a whole. We truly value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and learning and endeavour to continually reflect that knowledge at all levels of our service daily and during our critical reflection times. We value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contribution to our service and wider community.
