C&K QUT Kelvin Grove Community Childcare Centre

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At C&K QUT Kelvin Grove Community Centre we acknowledge that our service is located on the traditional Lands of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples, and acknowledge their continuing connection to time, place and Country.

We recognise the histories of this Lands across Australia and the discrimination and injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that have impacted on connections to land, languages, community and culture. With this understanding we seek to support all Australians in moving towards reconciliation. We believe that reconciliation is vital to ensuring the wellbeing and joy of all Australian children, as well as building widespread respect for people and Country

We believe that reconciliation is a collaborative and co-constructed process between educators, children, families and community. We strive to create a culturally safe environment that acknowledges and values our diverse local community through providing ongoing education surrounding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of thinking, knowing and doing.

Throughout our journey we will:

- commit to ongoing education surrounding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of thinking, knowing and doing.

- strive to create a culturally safe service that acknowledges, respects and values the diverse and dynamic nature of our local community, including our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

- seek to truthfully and respectfully understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.

- value the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to the community.

- actively engage with and value opportunities to learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
