VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At C&K QUT Kelvin Grove, we believe that reconciliation is a collaborative and co-constructed process between non-Indigenous educators, families and communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

For our educators, we continue our commitment to provide learning opportunities and time to build meaningful relationships and develop understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and cultures. Knowledge is power and we hope this  provides our educators with a deeper sense of connection, respect and understanding in celebrating diversity, therefore creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

For the children, we continue  to build their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, contributions, cultures and perspectives into our daily program in ways that are meaningful and respectful, to bring out the spirit of joy in our centre. Through ongoing discussions with  all children, they  acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples and Custodians of the Land.

For the community, we continue exploring opportunities for engagement with the local and wider First Nations' communities. This includes acknowledging and celebrating significant events, creating respectful and meaningful displays when referencing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and supporting First Nations' businesses.
